I’m standing at Aitkens corner this year, the wind’s got up and while its clear and fine for the one dayers – a nice change from what greeted 2 dayers the day before – the temperature that was 14 degrees when we arrived has dropped down to 11 and that’s without the wind chill. Nothing like standing still in a paddock waiting for the sun-up to test the warmth of a garment.
That morning in the dark hanging the cycle out on the rack just out of Kumara the rest of the crew had commented how good the reflective piping was.. something I’ve been pretty happy about on many an occasion having been caught out cruising home from the post work ride, taking in an extra loop and finding I’d miscalculated the encroaching darkness.
You’ve got to love a garment that is equally happy looking posh in cafe and soaked in brine after the wind got up during a "quiet" paddle in the sounds, drying out in the sun on a beach with a beer.
